Miniature Plant Pots (with Oven Bake Polymer Clay)

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I have discovered a new form of meditation - making teeny clay pots! I feel like I've been seeing a lot of pottery on my social media lately, and it gave me an itch to try it myself - plus, I needed somewhere to put all of my (finally) blooming succulent cuttings.  And once I got started, I couldn't stop - there is something so therapeutic and calming about the squishy texture and repetitive, mindless motions of making the pots!

Anyway, they are super easy to make at home, and you can get really creative with them. In this post, I'll just show you how I made little plant pots, but once you get the hang of it, you can make a lot of different stuff (like beads for necklaces, bracelet cuffs, little dishes, etc).

Easy 5 Minute DIY Watercolor Greeting Card

I had a bunch of thank you notes to write to various people, and wanted to send something that was a little more personal than your average card. Sometimes I paint or draw cards that are tailored to the recipient, like a bicycle for a Bike & Build friend, but those often take much longer and sometimes result in me never sending anything at all, if it seems too daunting. In contrast, these cards are a great way to send a heartfelt note without taking up a bunch of time!

DIY Woven Wall Hanging Tapestry

I have been SO excited to share this DIY with you! After actively following Apartment Therapy and seeing all of these cute wall hangings in the featured apartment tours, I knew I HAD to have one. The weaving itself took a lot longer than expected - several hours over the course of several weekends - but it was totally worth it! As much as I wanted to finish, I started to feel like the process was fairly meditative. I could weave while watching TV, listening to podcasts, or even sitting outside in the sun.

Easy DIY Eraser Stamps

My friend Liz sent me the most wonderful surprise package earlier this year -  a homemade stamp. It was such a thoughtful gift and totally up my alley, and Liz, being the most artsy person I know, made something so ordinary feel so special.

Of course, I was thinking - how can I make more of these? While Liz carved the stamp from a linoleum block with a special linoleum cutter (both of which you can purchase at an art store or online here for fairly cheaply), I decided to take a much less committed, less professional approach. The linoleum of the stamp Liz made me felt just like an eraser, and as soon as I made the connection, I knew an eraser would be a good beginner's material. As for my weapon of choice? I decided to test my dexterity with a Swiss Army knife.

DIY Handmade Valentine's Day Flower Wreath

Although I'm by no means a huge proponent of Hallmark holidays, Valentine's Day gives me another reason to spread love and make stuff! Yes, we should spread love every day, especially to those we care about, but I think the world could use another excuse to express appreciation and kindness, right? And for all of us DIYers, Valentine's Day crafts are plentiful: crafty cards, adorable letter boxes, red baked goods, and, of course, anything flowers!

For Christmas, my aunt gave me a Wreath Recipe book, on how to gather supplies for and assemble seasonal wreaths and other floral arrangements. So, last Sunday morning, while most people in the US woke up excited to watch the Super Bowl, I was eager to go to my farmers market to get flowers for this project. With all my flowers, I couldn't really care less about the game or even the commercials. My friends and roommates can vouch that I spent the first quarter of the game on the floor making and photographing my very first floral wreath.

DIY String Orb Holiday Ornament

The holidays are approaching so quickly, so I wanted to get in some seasonal projects. More specifically, ornaments! I am nearing the end of my 2 week trip to Patagonia (check out my blog here!), but I still have some cute DIY holiday decorations to share while I'm gone!

Today's ornament is literally the easiest project ever. Inspired by Martha Stewart, this string ornament is really easy and will look great on with the twinkly lights on your tree!

DIY Homemade Salt Dough Clay Ornaments

I have another easy ornament for you - homemade clay ornaments! We all probably did this in kindergarten, but now we have a little more patience and skill to make them more sophisticated looking! I had seen some really cute ones online, and I figured these would be a great alternative to gift tags, or just an extra something, for any wrapped presents.

There's a lot of room for creativity and personalization with this project, so definitely think outside the box once you start decorating them!

DIY Halloween Painted Mason Jar Candle Votives

Aside from the costumes and candy, I love that Halloween marks the start of the end-of-year holidays. The aura of excitement and spirit, the festivities and gatherings, and all the special baking and making opportunities; I wish November and December lasted longer than just 2 months!

As I began brainstorming Halloween-themed DIY projects this month, I remembered the case of teeny tiny mason jars sitting in my cupboard, awaiting their transformation into less mundane objects. Inspired by painted mason jars I found on Etsy, I decided to make spooky candle votives!
