Pinnacles National Park

Two weekends ago, my coworkers/friends and I went to Pinnacles National Park! A mere two hour drive away, it's the closest national park in the Bay Area, and one of the most recently inaugurated, redesignated from a National Monument to a National Park in 2013. Although small and not the most jaw-dropping place on earth, Pinnacles was the perfect weekend getaway, with a great campsite and numerous hiking trails!

Barcelona by Gaudi

I knew that a major part of our trip would be seeing all of the Antoni Gaudi's work. Many of my coworkers had actually lived in or visited Barcelona, and every single coworker recommended I see one or more of his works. Prior to the trip, I honestly had no idea who Gaudi even was (I'm not quite that cosmopolitan), but I was soon to find out!

Sitges, its beaches, and the Corpus Christi Flower Festival

I feel a little guilty saying that my favorite place on our trip was actually not even in Barcelona, but the neighboring beach town, Sitges. (Sitges and its beaches - it rhymes!) My mom and I loved it so much, we made our way to Sitges twice. I haven’t actually been to Greece, but the relaxed pace, olive oil everything, and style of buildings were reminiscent of what I imagine Greece to be like – I guess it’s the Mediterranean coastal life! I just loved the simple, colorful buildings, and the maze of narrow, pedestrian-only cobblestone streets.

Barcelona, where all the little things are wonderful

This is probably not quite "local" enough to fit the title of this blog, but it’s been two weeks since I returned from my trip to Barcelona and I wanted to finally share some pictures! It was probably the most well-timed vacation I have ever taken; I departed for España on essentially the last day of my big project at work (and it already is rare to only have one project at work). Because I was busy leading up to our day of departure, I hadn’t done much research on what to do or expect, which made the whole trip exciting and novel. Going into the trip, all I expected was a city full of color and energy, which turned out to very much true!

Limekiln State Park on the Big Sur Coast

A couple weekends ago, I found my new favorite campsite! I hadn't driven down to Big Sur in awhile, so I obviously couldn't turn down an invitation from my friends for a quick weekend trip! Just one night camping might not seem worth it for a three and a half hour drive each way, but the drive itself is honestly a huge part of the experience. I've driven (and biked) along Highway 1 so many times, but it never gets old - I am always surprised at how awe-struck and grateful I am each time to live in such a beautiful part of the world!
