Gold Trim DIY Jewelry Dish Catch All

I wanted to share the tutorial for the jewelry dishes that were featured on my DIY Belt Shelf last week! I swear, this will be the last jewelry storage/organization DIY for a LONG TIME. While the Brit+Co organizer and my little jewelry closet system are great for necklaces and some bracelets, I needed something to hold all of my rings and earrings!

Super easy, super cheap (it cost me less than $3 per dish) and super quick!

DIY Woodburned, Painted, or Stamped Wood Slices

I've started following a few fellow Etsy-ers on Instagram, and it's SO fun. I get lots of inspiration for new projects, and it's honestly really cool to see how AWESOME some people are at such unique things. Three of my favorite discoveries are: The Dapper Jackalope, who makes the cutest and quirkiest illustrations; Be Good Natured, who makes incredibly realistic wool felt portraits of animals (you HAVE to see this!); and Forage Workshop, who creates really cool wood slice ornaments!

So, when brainstorming Mother's Day gifts a couple weeks ago, I was inspired by the Forage Workshop and decided to try making wood slice coasters for my mom. I didn't have any fancy supplies, so I originally just painted them. But then, they were so cute, I decided to experiment with some other methods of decorating the wood, including stamps and woodburning. Stamping is definitely the easiest in terms of effort and dexterity required, while painting and woodburning are a little bit more advanced. Read on below to see how they turned out!

DIY Handmade Valentine's Day Flower Wreath

Although I'm by no means a huge proponent of Hallmark holidays, Valentine's Day gives me another reason to spread love and make stuff! Yes, we should spread love every day, especially to those we care about, but I think the world could use another excuse to express appreciation and kindness, right? And for all of us DIYers, Valentine's Day crafts are plentiful: crafty cards, adorable letter boxes, red baked goods, and, of course, anything flowers!

For Christmas, my aunt gave me a Wreath Recipe book, on how to gather supplies for and assemble seasonal wreaths and other floral arrangements. So, last Sunday morning, while most people in the US woke up excited to watch the Super Bowl, I was eager to go to my farmers market to get flowers for this project. With all my flowers, I couldn't really care less about the game or even the commercials. My friends and roommates can vouch that I spent the first quarter of the game on the floor making and photographing my very first floral wreath.

Two weekends ago, I went to Re:Make, a DIY festival hosted by Brit + Co at Fort Mason in San Francisco, and I am brimming with new project ideas and a refreshed excitement about tackling my DIY bucket list! The space was filled with hundreds of people reveling in the talents of local artisans and makers, fueling their imagination and creativity with various (free!) DIY projects, and taking advantage of the many awesome social media-worthy photo ops.
